Very expected game in Kotka where 9th ranked Tapiolan Honka (7-16) was defeated by fourth ranked Peli-Karhut (15-8) 79-71 on Saturday. Tapiolan Honka was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Peli-Karhut made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Tapiolan Honka turnovers. Tapiolan Honka was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Her fellow American import forward Natasha Thames (183-91, college: Temple) helped adding 23 points and 9 rebounds. Tuuli Menna (182-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Sara Rokkanen (177-96) scored 20 points. Peli-Karhut maintains fourth place with 15-8 record. Tapiolan Honka lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. Peli-Karhut will face Forssan Alku (#6) on the road in the next round. Tapiolan Honka will play against Torpan Pojat and hope to win that game.
