Regular Season Round 19: Arras - Villeneuve 64-78

The most shocking disappointment of round 19 was a home defeat of 3rd placed Arras (13-6) to fourth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (14-5) 78-64 in the game for the third place. It ended the three-game winning streak of Arras. The game was mostly controlled by Villeneuve D'Ascq. Arras managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 21 Arras turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Marielle Amant (190-89, agency: Comsport) helped adding 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side naturalized Serbian Lidija Turcinovic (184-94, agency: Comsport) responded with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Mali center Djene Diawara (192-85, agency: Comsport) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to third place. Arras at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. They share it with Landes. Villeneuve D'Ascq are looking forward to face Angers (#6) at home in the next round. Arras will have a break next round.
