Second Stage Round 4: Milano - Alghero 90-64
Date: February 22, 2015
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Alghero (0-3) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Milano (3-1) 90-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Milano. Alghero was better in second period 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 38. Milano forced 22 Alghero turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of center Alessandra Calastri (193-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and guard Silvia Gottardi (176-78) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Milano players scored in double figures. Milano's coach Franz Pinotti felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Sara Azzellini (170-86) responded with 30 points and 7 rebounds and Alexandra Petrova scored 8 points and 15 rebounds. Milano maintains third position in A2 with 3-1 record behind leader San Giovanni. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with three games lost. Milano will have a break next round.
