Regular Season Round 10: Sokhumi - MIA Academy 64-66

Eighth-ranked Sokhumi (1-9) gave a tough game to second ranked MIA (8-2) in Tbilisi on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only two-point victory 66-64. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sokhumi won fourth quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sokhumi outrebounded MIA 49-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. International point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) scored 5 points and 14 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90) chipped in 11 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Giorgi Jgerenaia (206-90, college: N.Georgia) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and international forward Irakli Chlaidze (199-89) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Sokhumi's coach Vazha Kvaratskhelia tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. MIA have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Sokhumi lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. MIA are looking forward to face Batumi (#5) on the road in the next round. Sokhumi will play against Kutaisi and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
