Very predictable result in Maracay where leader Cocodrilos (4-0) edged bottom-ranked Toros (0-4) 75-73 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 23-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Toros were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) responded with 27 points and the former international center Alejandro Barrios (204-79) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cocodrilos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Toros at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Cocodrilos will face Guaiqueries (#3) in Porlamar in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
