Regular Season Round 13: Sagesse - Moutahed 102-99

Fifth-ranked Al Moutahed (5-8) was very close to win a game against second ranked Sagesse (10-3) in Beirut on Sunday. Sagesse managed to secure only three-point victory 102-99. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 34-25. But Al Moutahed won second period 26-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sagesse looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international swingman Elie Roustom (197-87) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Sagesse players scored in double figures. American guard Dewarick Spencer (193-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) answered with 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) added 30 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Al Moutahed. Sagesse have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Al Riyadi. Al Moutahed at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Homenetm. B. Sagesse are again looking forward to face Al Moutahed (#6) in Tripoli in the next round. Al Moutahed will have a break next round.
