An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Auckland. First ranked Cairns Taipans faced second-ranked New Zealand Breakers. Guests from Cairns (21-7) defeated host New Zealand Breakers (19-9) 81-77. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cairns Taipans made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-92, college: Florida) who added 25 points during the contest. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Cairns Taipans' coach Aaron Fearne used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Nigerian-American power forward Ekenechukwu Ibekwe (206-85, college: Maryland) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Cairns Taipans have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 21-7 record. New Zealand Breakers at the other side keep the second place with nine games lost.
