There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (7-12) beat on the road 11th ranked Azpeitia (7-13) 60-51 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 19-2 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. CB Tarragona 2017 dominated on the defensive end, holding Azpeitia to just 2 points in third quarter. It was a good game for American forward Antonio Hester (198-90, college: Mobile, AL, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Center Artur Alaminos (205-91) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Hester is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Ander Arruti (189-90) answered with 13 points and forward Ion Ugarabe (198-83) added 9 points in the effort for Azpeitia. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. CB Tarragona 2017 moved-up to eleventh place. Azpeitia lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with 13 games lost. CB Tarragona 2017 will face higher ranked CB Guadalajara (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Azpeitia will play against the league's second-placed Caceres Basket (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
