Regular Season Round 25: Santiago - Capitalinas 80-77

The most exciting game of round 25 in the Liga Superior took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Capitalinas (18-6) to fifth ranked Santiago (10-14) 80-77 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Capitalinas. Capitalinas were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 28-20 charge of Santiago, which allowed them to win the game. International point guard Ineidis Casanova (165-88) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 10 assists and 7 steals for the winners and forward Suanly Tanis (178-94) chipped in 23 points. At the losing side center Zuleira Atis (190-80) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and international Suchitel Avila (184-82) scored 18 points. Five Capitalinas players scored in double figures. Capitalinas' coach Ernesto Wright rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Santiago maintains fifth place with 10-14 record. Capitalinas at the other side keep the second position with six games lost. Santiago are again looking forward to face league's second-placed Capitalinas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Capitalinas will have a break next round.
