Regular Season Round 35: Sundsvall - Solna 80-89

Sundsvall Dragons (#4) were upset in Sundsvall by seventh ranked Solna Vikings 89-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sundsvall Dragons. It looked good early as Sundsvall Dragons took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Solna Vikings had a 29-21 second period charge getting the lead and Sundsvall Dragons were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-89. Strangely Sundsvall Dragons outrebounded Solna Vikings 40-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Octagon Europe) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 assists. Spanish power forward Miguel Montanana (206-80) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Icelandic forward Hlynur Baeringsson (200-82) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks and American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Sundsvall Dragons in the defeat. Five Sundsvall Dragons players scored in double figures. Solna Vikings maintains seventh place with 12-17 record. Sundsvall Dragons at the other side keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Solna Vikings will play against higher ranked Boras Basket (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sundsvall Dragons will have a break next round.
