The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Las Tunas' (5-19) road loss to sixth ranked Pinar del Rio (9-16) 70-78. Las Tunas were ahead by 12 points at the halftime before a 49-29 second half run of Pinar del Rio. They also forced 22 Las Tunas turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Jaciel Martinez (190-91) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 assists. The former international point guard Yosiel Monterrey (185-88) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Pinar del Rio players scored in double figures. Swingman Yosniel Morales (196-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and forward Fernando Chapman (190-88) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Las Tunas. Pinar del Rio moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Camaguey. Las Tunas lost their sixth game in a row. Las Tunas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. Pinar del Rio will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Las Tunas will play against Ciego de Avila (#3) and hope to get back on the winning track.
