Regular Season Round 7: Bucaneros - Panteras 78-75

Bottom-ranked Panteras is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to sixth ranked Bucaneros (4-2) 78-75 on Wednesday evening. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 16-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Spanish center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) accounted for 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Bucaneros' coach Luis Guil allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward Justin Williams (206-84, college: Wyoming) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import point guard R.L. Horton (182-89, college: S.Mississippi) added 23 points respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Four Bucaneros and five Panteras players scored in double figures. Bucaneros moved-up to third place, which they share with Guaiqueries and Guaros. Loser Panteras still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Gaiteros. Bucaneros will meet Gaiteros (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panteras will play against Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz and look forward to get finally their first victory.
