Regular Season Round 24: Rio Claro - Basquete Cearense 92-83
Date: February 25, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked SKY/Basquete (6-17) was defeated on the road by fifteenth ranked Rio Claro (6-18) 92-83. SKY/Basquete was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 57-43 second half run of Rio Claro. They made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Spanish forward Alvaro Calvo (202-83, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Brandon Brown (180-89, college: Montana-West) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Andrezao de Sousa (198-90) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Rashaun McLemore (193-86, college: CS Northridge) added 17 points in the effort for SKY/Basquete. Four Rio Claro and five SKY/Basquete players scored in double figures. SKY/Basquete's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rio Claro maintains fifteenth position with 6-18 record. SKY/Basquete at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 17 games lost. Rio Claro will play against higher ranked Brasilia (#11) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. SKY/Basquete will play against the league's second-placed Winner/Limeira where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
