Regular Season Round 26: Artemisa - Guantanamo 77-74

Eighth-ranked Guantanamo (3-22) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Artemisa (15-10) on Wednesday. Artemisa managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Guantanamo cut a 15-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Sandro Marrero contributed with 15 points and 5 steals for the winners. Forward Alexis Bartelemis (194-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Yoannis Soria (195-86) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Guantanamo. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Artemisa have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 15-10 record. Guantanamo lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Artemisa are looking forward to face league's second-placed Santiago in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Guantanamo will play against the league's leader Capitalinos (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
