Regular Season Round 19: Njardvik - Haukar 78-100

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Haukar (11-8) smashed on the road 4th placed Njardvik (11-8) 100-78. The game without a history. Haukar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Njardvik's 32. They outrebounded Njardvik 43-31 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Haukar players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Haukur Oskarsson (194-91) accounted for 24 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Haukar players scored in double figures. American point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-87, college: LIU Post) came up with 40 points (!!!) (made all of his seven free throws) and the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman) added 19 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Njardvik in the defeat. Njardvik's coach Fridrik Ingi Runarsson gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Haukar have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Njardvik and Stjarnan. Haukar's next round opponent will be IR (#10) in Reykjavik and are hoping to win another game. Njardvik will play on the road against Skallagrimur (#12) in Borgarnes and hope to win that game.
