Regular Season Round 42: Huracanes - Pioneros 102-82

The most important game in the last round took place in Tampico between second ranked Pioneros (31-9) and eighth ranked Huracanes (20-20) on Thursday night. Pioneros were crushed by Huracanes on the road 102-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Pioneros. They outrebounded Pioneros 43-31 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Huracanes looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American power forward Suleiman Braimoh (203-89, college: Rice) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American swingman Ollie Bailey (201-85, college: Oklahoma City) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Joaquin Villanueva (207-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Huracanes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Abejas and Jefes. Pioneros at the other side keep the second position with nine games lost.
