Regular Season Round 19: IR - Snaefell 88-82

We should mention about the upset which took place in Reykjavik, where 8th ranked Snaefell (8-11) lost to eleventh ranked IR (5-14) in a road game 82-88. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-16. But Snaefell won second period 25-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. IR forced 23 Snaefell turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American-Jamaican forward Trey Hampton (203-87, college: Georgia St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Sveinbjorn Claessen (195-86) accounted for 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four IR players scored in double figures. American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) came up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and naturalized American guard Austin Bracey (190-90) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Snaefell in the defeat. IR moved-up to tenth place. Snaefell lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. IR's next round opponent will be higher ranked Haukar (#3) in Hafnarfjordur and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
