Regular Season Round 21: Polpharma - PGE Turow 110-126

There was no surprise in Starogard where 14th ranked Polpharma (5-16) was defeated by second ranked PGE Turow (16-4) 126-110 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by PGE Turow. Polpharma was better in second period 32-28. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Polpharma 37-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. PGE Turow shot the lights out from three sinking 19 long-distance shots on high 57.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Mardy Collins (198-84, college: Temple) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Point guard Tony Taylor (185-90, college: G.Washington) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Tony Meier (204-90, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) who recorded 29 points and 5 rebounds and guard Jessie Sapp (188-86, college: Georgetown) added 21 points and 12 assists respectively. Five PGE Turow and four Polpharma players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 16-4 record behind leader Stelmet ZG. Polpharma lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. PGE Turow will face Anwil (#10) in Wloclawek in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Polpharma will play at home against Wikana Start (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
