Regular Season Round 25: Paulistano - Pinheiros/Sky 84-68

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sao Paolo: Paulistano (#6) and Pinheiros (#8). Paulistano (14-11) crushed visiting Pinheiros (11-13) by 16 points 84-68. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. It looked good early as Pinheiros took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Paulistano had a 20-14 second period charge getting the lead and Pinheiros was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-84. Paulistano made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Power forward Renato Carbonari (206-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and Nigerian-American power forward Jefferson Agba (208-80, college: Embry Riddle) chipped in 17 points. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international forward Felipe Ribeiro (201-79) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Marcus Vinicius Toledo (201-86) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Paulistano have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 14-11 record. Pinheiros at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Paulistano will play against bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba (#16) in Sorocabana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pinheiros will play on the road against Palmeiras (#10) in Sao Paulo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
