Regular Season Round 22: Le Portel - Poitiers 97-66

Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Poitiers (9-13) was outscored on the road by eighth ranked Le Portel (12-10) 97-66 on Friday. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. Le Portel outrebounded Poitiers 35-22 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American center Jakim Donaldson (203-83, college: Edinboro) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Benoit Mangin (190-88) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Kevin Harley (192-94) replied with 13 points and 4 assists and American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) added 17 points in the effort for Poitiers. Five Le Portel and four Poitiers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Le Portel moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Nantes and Orchy. Loser Poitiers dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Le Portel will face Aix-Maurienne (#17) in Aix-les-Bains in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Poitiers will play at home against Denain Voltaire (#5) and hope to win that game.
