Second Stage Round 13: GOCOR-Sozh - Borisfen 71-95

The game in Gomel supposed to be quite interesting. Third ranked Borisfen (14-9) played at the court of 5th ranked GOCOR-Sozh (11-12). Borisfen smashed GOCOR-Sozh 95-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Borisfen. GOCOR-Sozh managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Borisfen dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 32. Borisfen forced 28 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers. Forward Evgeni Sugonyako (199-92) stepped up and scored 31 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Ukrainian center Maksym Kozlovets (205-90) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side center Viachaslau Skidan (205-85) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Ukrainian forward Ivan Kaliayev (201-87) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Five Borisfen and four GOCOR-Sozh players scored in double figures. GOCOR-Sozh's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Borisfen maintains third place in League with 14-9 record having six points less than leader Grodno-93. GOCOR-Sozh at the other side keeps the fifth position with 12 games lost. Borisfen are looking forward to face Rubon (#4) in Vitebsk in the next round. GOCOR-Sozh will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tsmoki II in Minsk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
