Regular Season Round 22: Hyeres-Toulon - Monaco 70-79

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Hyeres-Toulon (17-5) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Monaco (16-6) 79-70. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Hyeres-Toulon won second period 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Monaco made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 assists. Swingman Quincy Taylor (195-82, college: UAB) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Kyle Spain (196-87, college: San Diego St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) added 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Hyeres-Toulon. Four Hyeres-Toulon players scored in double figures. Monaco have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Hyeres-Toulon at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Monaco are looking forward to face Souffelweyersheim (#16) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Saint-Quentin (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
