The game in supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Ciego de Avila (18-9) played at the court of 7th ranked Las Tunas (5-21). Ciego de Avila smashed Las Tunas 75-49 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ciego de Avila. Las Tunas managed to win second period 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Las Tunas to just 7 points in third quarter. Ciego de Avila dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Las Tunas' 22. The best player for the winners was forward Vaniel Reyes (193-83) who scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four Ciego de Avila players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Yosniel Morales (196-87) who recorded 5 points and 22 rebounds and forward Fernando Chapman (190-88) added 14 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Ciego de Avila. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Santiago. Newly promoted Las Tunas keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Ciego de Avila will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Las Tunas will play again against Ciego de Avila (#3) and hope to secure a win.
