Date: February 28, 2015
The most exciting game of round 28 in the Liga Superior took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Guantanamo (18-7) to second ranked Capitalinas (20-7) 74-73 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guantanamo. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-14. But Guantanamo won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of center Zuleira Atis (190-80) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Dairis Tornell (176-92) who added 13 points and 6 steals during the contest. Four Capitalinas players scored in double figures. At the losing side international center Clenia Noblet (190-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and Yunieski Bouly (184-92) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Guantanamo's coach Osmel Planas rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Capitalinas maintains second position with 20-7 record having five points less than leader Pinar del Rio.
