Very expected game when 11th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (2-14) was edged at home by third ranked Arxil Pontevedra (12-4) 59-58 on Saturday. Arxil Pontevedra dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Universidad de Valladolid's 24. Worth to mention a great performance of Senegalese center Maimouna Diarra (198-91) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds and forward Maria Lago who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Arxil Pontevedra players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Cristina Salinas (162-93) responded with 22 points and center Noelia Pariente (183-96) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Arxil Pontevedra maintains third position in Group A with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Ensino. Loser Universidad de Valladolid keeps the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Arxil Pontevedra will face Cortegada (#4) in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round. Universidad de Valladolid will play on the road against ADBA (#9) in Aviles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
