Regular Season Round 35: Toyota Alvark - Wakayama T. 104-60

There was a small surprise in Tokyo where fifth ranked Toyota Alvark (21-14) smashed 5th ranked Wakayama T. (4-30) 104-60 on Saturday. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Wakayama T.'s 44 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Toyota Alvark forced 20 Wakayama T. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who scored 24 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). His fellow American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian center Cyril Awere (211-85) added 13 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the guests. Toyota Alvark have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Chiba Jets. Wakayama T. lost seventeenth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 30 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face again Wakayama T. (#5) at home in the next round.
