Regular Season Round 8: Guaros - Cocodrilos 84-72

There was a change at the LPB leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Cocodrilos (5-2). They were defeated by third ranked Guaros (5-2) 84-72 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Guaros. Cocodrilos managed to win second period 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Guaros won last quarter 22-12. Worth to mention a great performance of international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-86) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists and American swingman Kim English (200-88, college: Missouri) who added 19 points during the contest. Guaros' coach Nestor Garcia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import power forward Walter Sharpe (206-86, college: UAB) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guaros moved-up to second place, which they share with Cocodrilos and Bucaneros. Cocodrilos will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Guaros will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Cocodrilos in Caracas.
