Regular Season Round 23: Breogan - Melilla 86-74

Leader Leche Rio Breogan delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (10-12) 86-74 in Lugo. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 30-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. American center Gary McGhee (210-88, college: Pittsburgh, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Osvaldas Matulionis (200-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Five Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Power forward Devin Wright (202-86) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Eric Sanchez (182-82, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 11 points in the effort for Melilla Baloncesto. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leche Rio Breogan have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-6 record. Melilla Baloncesto lost third consecutive game. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will play against bottom-ranked Clinicas Rincon (#15) in Malaga in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Melilla Baloncesto will play on the road against Palencia Baloncesto (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
