An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tokyo. First ranked Hitachi Sunrockers faced 3rd placed Dragonflies. Host Hitachi Sunrockers (29-7) defeated guests from Hiroshima (15-19) 82-69. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dragonflies' 26. They outrebounded Dragonflies 61-31 including a 29-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Yusuke Okada (185-84) added 16 points in the effort for Dragonflies. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains first place with 29-7 record. Dragonflies lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third position with 19 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will again play against Dragonflies (#3) in Hiroshima in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Dragonflies will have a break next round.
