Regular Season Round 22: Boulazac - Maurienne 74-63

Very expected game when 17th ranked Aix-Maurienne (6-16) lost on the road to third ranked Boulazac Basket (15-7) 74-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-63. Boulazac Basket forced 20 Aix-Maurienne turnovers. It was a very good performance for Meredis Houmounou (188-88) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Xavier Gaillou (192-89) contributed with 8 points for the winners. Naturalized DR Congolese power forward Boris Meno (200-83, college: Davidson) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and American swingman Chris Dowe (193-91, college: Bellarmine) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Aix-Maurienne. Four Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. Aix-Maurienne's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Boulazac Basket maintains third position with 15-7 record having just two points less than leader Hyeres-Toulon. Loser Aix-Maurienne keeps the seventeenth place with 16 games lost. Boulazac Basket will face Lille Metropole (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Aix-Maurienne will play against Le Portel and hope to win that game.
