Regular Season Round 20: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Maccabi T-A 91-93

Eighth-ranked Bnei Hasharon (8-13) made lots of trouble for first ranked Maccabi T-A (18-2) in Hod Hasharon on Saturday. The visitors from Tel-Aviv managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bnei Hasharon. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 25-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Forward Brian Randle (203-85) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas, agency: Alti Sport) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jasper Johnson (203-83, college: Delta St.) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-2 record. Bnei Hasharon at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Maccabi Ashdod (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bnei Hasharon will have a break next round.
