Regular Season Round 20: Lyon - COB Calais 91-57
Date: February 28, 2015
Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Lyon (5-15) smashed at home bottom-ranked COB Calais (1-19) 91-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lyon. COB Calais was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding COB Calais to just 4 points in third quarter. Lyon forced 23 COB Calais turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 61.5 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian point guard Milica Dabovic (173-82, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 7 assists and naturalized Ivorian guard Esther Niamke (165-93, college: Louisville) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Five Lyon players scored in double figures. Lyon's coach Marina Maljkovic felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulgarian forward Radoslava Bachvarova (183-87, college: VCU) responded with 20 points and American forward Jasmine Hassell (188-91, college: Georgia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Lyon maintains twelfth position with 5-15 record. COB Calais lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 19 lost games. Lyon will face higher ranked Tarbes (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. COB Calais will play against Toulouse (#10) and hope to win that game.
