Regular Season Round 27: Denso Iris - Hitachi Cougars 71-70

Tenth-ranked Hitachi Cougars (2-25) were very close to win a game against third ranked Denso Iris (19-6) in Kariya on Saturday. Denso Iris managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 14-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. International guard Minami Iju (168-90) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Denso Iris' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Mami Yamada (176-88) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and guard Kasumi Takahashi (167-87) added 11 points and 4 assists respectively for Hitachi Cougars in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Denso Iris. They maintain third place with 19-6 record having just three points less than leader JX-Eneos S. Hitachi Cougars lost their sixteenth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 25 games lost. Denso Iris will again meet at home Hitachi Cougars (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round.
