Rather expected game in Vitebsk where 6th ranked BGU Minsk (7-16) was defeated by fourth ranked Rubon (13-10) 83-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Rubon forced 19 BGU Minsk turnovers. Yahor Patupchik (191-94) fired 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Marsel Ovsepian (202-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Rubon's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and center Dmitriy Danilik (205-83) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Rubon and five BGU Minsk players scored in double figures. Rubon maintains fourth place in League with 13-10 record. Newly promoted BGU Minsk keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Rubon will meet higher ranked Borisfen (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BGU Minsk will play against the league's leader Grodno-93 and hope to secure a win.
