The game in Rethymno supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Panathinaikos (16-2) played at the court of 5th ranked AGOR (9-9). Panathinaikos did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 94-77 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AGOR. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 64.8 percent from the field and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Panathinaikos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international Nikos Pappas (194-90) scored 19 points to lead the charge for the winners and American James Gist (206-86) chipped in 19 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) with 16 points and 5 rebounds and Serbian-Canadian forward Dejan Kravic (211-90, college: Texas Tech) scored 15 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 16-2 record behind leader Olympiacos. Loser AGOR keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. They share the position with AEK Athens and Apollon Patras. Panathinaikos will meet at home PAOK (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. AGOR will play against the league's leader Olympiacos in Athens and hope to secure a win.
