Regular Season Round 40: Oita H.Devils - Shimane SM 86-82 OT

Oita Heat Devils (14-24) outlasted Shimane Magic (13-25) in overtime by four points 86-82 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-18 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Oita Heat Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Naoto Takushi (182-81) who added 15 points during the contest. At the losing side American forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) responded with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 22 points. Five Oita Heat Devils and four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Oita Heat Devils moved-up to sixth place. Loser Shimane Magic dropped to the seventh position with 25 games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face Bambitious Nara (#8) on the road in the next round. Shimane Magic will play against Takamatsu FA and hope to win that game.
