Regular Season Round 25: Catz - HyPo 68-61

SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (23-2) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked HyPo (12-13) 68-61. HyPo was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 39-30 second half run of Catz Lappeenranta. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to HyPo's 26. They outrebounded HyPo 49-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. Russian forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and American swingman Alexandria Anderson (186-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier, agency: Regeneracom Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Anni Makitalo (175-91) scored 12 points. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 23-2 record. Newly promoted HyPo keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will play against ViVe (#6) in Vimpeli in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. HyPo will play at home against Peli-Karhut and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
