Very expected game when 10th ranked TuRi (2-23) was smashed by fourth ranked Peli-Karhut (17-8) in Kotka 92-58 on Sunday. The game without a history. Peli-Karhut led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Peli-Karhut forced 24 TuRi turnovers. American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri, agency: Gamble Sports Management) nailed 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winning side and her fellow American import swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Five Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Forward Ida Myllyoja (180-96) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Helmi Tulonen (189-98) added 23 points and 7 rebounds respectively for TuRi in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Peli-Karhut. They maintain fourth place with 17-8 record. TuRi lost their twenty first game in a row. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Peli-Karhut will meet HyPo (#5) in the next round. TuRi will play against Torpan Pojat (#3) and hope to secure a win.
