Regular Season Round 21: Trefl Sopot - Anwil 72-60

Everything could happen in Sopot at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Trefl and 9th ranked Anwil had identical 9-11 record. This time Trefl used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Wloclawek 72-60 on Monday night. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl. Anwil was better in fourth quarter 13-5. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (205-90) who scored 24 points. Lithuanian center Tautvydas Lydeka (208-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Four Trefl players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Italian center Andrea Crosariol (210-84, college: Fair Dickinson) who recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Deonta Vaughn (185-86, college: Cincinnati) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Trefl maintains eighth place with 10-11 record. Loser Anwil keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost. Trefl will face league's leader Stelmet in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anwil will play at home against the league's second-placed PGE Turow (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
