Regular Season Round 10: Toros - Bucaneros 82-87

Leader Bucaneros delivered the seventh win on Wednesday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Toros (1-6) 87-82 in Maracay. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Toros won third quarter 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bucaneros made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) fired a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Bucaneros' coach Luis Guil used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Toros players scored in double figures. Bucaneros (7-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Toros at the other side keep the eighth place with six games lost. Bucaneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toros will play again on the road against the league's leader Bucaneros (#1) in La Guaira and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
