Regular Season Round 17: Gimle - Ulriken 78-47

An exciting game was played in Bergen. Second ranked Gimle faced 3rd placed Ulriken. Host Gimle (13-3) smashed guests from Bergen (12-5) 78-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ulriken. The game without a history. Gimle led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ulriken to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Gimle dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ulriken's 30. Gimle had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Montenegrin forward Biljana Pavicevic (191-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. American point guard Bianca Simmons (168-91, college: Mass.-Lowell) contributed with 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Gimle players scored in double figures. Forward Lise Breivik (181-93) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Sigrid Skorpen (178-91, college: Long Beach St.) added 14 points in the effort for Ulriken. Ulriken's coach DuRell Sandford gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Gimle. They maintain second place with 13-3 record having just two points less than leader Ullern. Ulriken at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Gimle will play against league's leader Ullern in Oslo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ulriken will play at home against BC Asker and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
