Regular Season Round 11: Bucaneros - Toros 74-70

LPB top team - Bucaneros (8-2) added another victory to their record on Thursday. This time they beat eighth ranked Toros (1-7) in La Guaira 74-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Toros won second period 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Kevinn Pinkney (207-83, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Bucaneros players scored in double figures. Bucaneros' coach Luis Guil used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) answered with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Toros. Bucaneros have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-2 record, which they share with Marinos. Toros lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Bucaneros is again looking forward to face Toros (#8) in Maracay in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Toros will have a break next round.
