Regular Season Round 19: IA - Hamar 93-75

The game between third ranked Hamar (12-7) and fifth ranked IA (10-7) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Hamar was defeated by IA in Akranes 75-93. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hamar. The game was mostly controlled by IA. Hamar managed to win second period 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jamarco Warren (180-88, college: Charleston So.) who helped to win the game recording 45 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Warren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Thorsteinn Gunnlaugsson (190-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 23 rebounds and American guard Julian Nelson (190, college: Coker) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hamar. Four Hamar players scored in double figures. Hamar's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. IA moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Valur. Hamar at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. IA is looking forward to face league's second-placed FSU in Selfoss in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hamar will play at home against Thor AK and is hoping to win this game.
