Very expected game in Mar del Plata where 8th ranked Lanus (12-22) was defeated by fourth ranked Quilmes MP (22-15) 87-83 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lanus won fourth quarter 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lanus was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for center Diego Romero (206-82, college: Florida St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Maximiliano Maciel (195-83) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Nicolas Romano (200-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard Camontae Griffin (175-86, college: St.Mary's, MD) scored 26 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Quilmes MP have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Lanus lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 22 games lost. Quilmes MP will have a break next round. Lanus will play on the road against Penarol (#3) in Mar del Plata and hope to win that game.
