The game in Akureyri was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Valur (10-7) played at the court of 8th ranked Thor AK (1-14). Valur defeated Thor AK 77-66 on Friday. The game without a history. Valur led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Valur forced 21 Thor AK turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Nate Garth (188-89, college: UCSB) who led the winners and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Swingman Kristjan Leifur Sverrisson (194-96) accounted for 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Four Valur players scored in double figures. American forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Arnor Jonsson (185-92) added 20 points respectively for Thor AK in the defeat. Thor AK's coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Valur have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with IA. Thor AK lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Valur will meet at home KFI (#7) in the next round. Thor AK will play against Hamar and hope to win that game.
