Regular Season Round 24: Tarvas - Valga Kalev 101-73

Fourth ranked BC Rakvere (16-10) crushed at home 5th ranked Valga Kalev (11-12) by 28 points 101-73, which is the biggest margin this round. It looked good early as Valga Kalev took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then BC Rakvere had a 21-19 second period charge getting the lead and Valga Kalev was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-101. BC Rakvere dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Valga Kalev's 36. They outrebounded Valga Kalev 41-23 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. BC Rakvere players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Valga Kalev's players. The winners were led by American guard Brandis Raley-Ross (188-87, college: S.Carolina) who scored that evening 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import Julius Brooks (206-90, college: Loyola, MD) supported him with 21 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). BC Rakvere's coach Andres Sober felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 11 points and 4 assists by the former international center Viljar Veski (215-86) did not help to save the game for Valga Kalev. Latvian guard Reinis Strupovics (192-87) added 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. BC Rakvere maintains fourth position with 16-10 record. Valga Kalev at the other side keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. BC Rakvere will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Valga Kalev will play at home against TLU/Kalev (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
