Regular Season Round 41: Fukuoka Rizing - Shiga L-Stars 85-95

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (10-30) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Shiga L-Stars (24-14) 95-85 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Shiga L-Stars. Fukuoka Rizing was better in third quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shiga L-Stars made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Fukuoka Rizing was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Yu Okada (184-83) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Kirk Van Slyke (208-89, college: Arkansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shiga L-Stars maintains fourth place with 24-14 record. Loser Fukuoka Rizing dropped to the tenth position with 30 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against Shiga L-Stars (#4) and hope to win that game.
