Regular Season Round 19: Nea Kifisia - Kolossos 73-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Kolossos' (9-10) road victory over 9th ranked Nea Kifisia (7-12) in Athens 84-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. Kolossos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Nea Kifisia outrebounded Kolossos 36-22 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Dominic Waters (185-86, college: Portland St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists. British point guard Justin Robinson (186-87, college: Rider, agency: Two Points) accounted for 12 points for the winning side. Four Kolossos players scored in double figures. The former international center Dimitrios Mavroeidis (208-85, agency: Octagon Europe) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and forward Yiannis Psathas (198-83) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Nea Kifisia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kolossos moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Apollon Patras and AGOR. Nea Kifisia lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. They share it with KAOD and Trikalla. Kolossos will meet at home higher ranked Aris (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nea Kifisia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena AEK Athens.
