The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Kyoto Hannar. as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kyoto Hannar. smashed second-ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix at home 77-56. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hamamatsu Phoenix. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-56.
