Regular Season Round 37: Hiroshima D. - Chiba Jets 79-83

The game between third ranked Dragonflies (15-21) and fifth ranked Chiba Jets (22-15) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Dragonflies unexpectedly were defeated by in Hiroshima 79-83. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-79. It was a great shooting night for Chiba Jets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and international power forward Ryumo Ono (197-88) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) scored 18 points. Four Chiba Jets and five Dragonflies players scored in double figures. Dragonflies' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets maintains fifth place with 22-15 record. Dragonflies lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third position with 21 games lost. Chiba Jets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Dragonflies will play again at home against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
